Did you know that babies are born wanting to learn?  Their little minds are like sponges exploring all of their senses – even before they can crawl.  In our infant program, our teachers provide new opportunities for your infant to touch, taste, smell, grab and listen to the world around them in an environment that is safe and nurturing.

In our new, beautiful, sunlit infant room, you will see our teachers talking, reading, and singing with your child during their day at feeding, playtime and diapering time.  This interaction helps your baby begin to understand language and conversation.  The staff at Creative Kids are interested in and pay close attention to all aspects of your child’s development.  Since infants use all five senses to explore their world, we make it easy for your baby to develop and grow as they build one skill upon another.  We love, love, love those babies!

Toddlers are busy bees. You probably know this already!  They are always on the move exploring and learning through their play and group experiences.  Using Perdue University’s research-based curriculum, “Early Learning Matters”, your child will expand the use of their natural toddler curiosity- an important building block for developing problem solving skills and self- confidence.

The early years are also critical for literacy development.  Using story time and daily exposure to books and conversation, your toddler will develop the early building blocks leading to literacy and a love for reading.  Combining all this with physical activity building strong muscles and expressing their budding creativity with dramatic play, your child will blossom in the Creative Kids toddler program.

Two’s are the “it’s all about me” age.  They are exploring and trying to do everything themselves.  This is their way of experimenting and learning to understand the world around them.  They are embracing character traits like generosity, honesty and compassion as they develop a greater awareness of others.  They are tasting new foods with wonderful delicious flavors and textures prepared in our “home-cooked” kitchen from our nutritionally balanced menus.    We sing, we dance and enjoy music daily as they are incorporated throughout the day to help our children grow as little musicians as well as little people!  And, of course, they love their time outside in our beautiful age appropriate play area!

The Creative Kids Learning Center emphasis on literacy moves forward in the two’s class.   Along with story times, the two’s have books in their hands each day.  They are learning how to experience books- how to handle a book, how books feel, which way the pages turn, what is right side up and upside down, how books look and what words look like.  These are the beginning building blocks of literacy as well as establishing a love for reading.

In our new, beautiful, sunshine- filled classroom, your two year old will build strong foundations with concepts in math, science, art, music and language that will guide them to success and higher self-confidence in their preschool years.

Mr. (Fred) Rogers had it right when he said: “It’s good to be curious about many things”.  He is correct and we love it that way!

Three year olds are confidence and positivity all rolled up in a little body!  They are exploring more, opening up their worlds, developing special friendships and using new words and new ideas every day.  They begin to connect letters, sounds and numbers, expanding their world through math and reading.  They are building their physical fitness as well as healthy eating habits enjoying our home cooked hot meals and snacks.  They are developing critical thinking skills as they construct creative structures with their hands.  Did you know that research has shown that children who engage in block building tasks show higher mathematics performance than children who had less block building opportunities? (Verdine et al (2004) in S. Linder (2005).  Threes grow greatly during this time developing emotionally, socially, creatively and cognitively as they engage new ideas and concepts through learning centers during their day.

These little balls of confidence and positivity are also developing social and life skills as they experience caring for others, cleaning up after themselves, respect for others, empathy, cooperating and sharing during circle time and story time.  As you can see, what we may observe as merely “children playing” is actually building their social skills, critical thinking and problem solving expertise.

It is good to be three!

The Pre-K program at Creative Kids Learning Center nurtures curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.  Our staff of highly trained and certified Pre-K teachers nurture and teach the whole child.  Our ultimate goal is to make sure every child is prepared academically, emotionally and socially for Kindergarten and gain the life skills that will make them good citizens.

Pre-K age children have a natural love of literacy.  We design our Pre-K classes to nurture their love of words and sounds, which leads to thinking logically and using language to express their thinking. This early literacy push also engages them to explore and learn more about their world.  They use their senses and special technological tools to observe and investigate their world, recording and analyzing their findings through writing, drawing or taking photos.  When your child gains mastery instead of frustration, they build on those skills and continue to excel.  This is how your child gains confidence.  We combine all this with physical development, home-cooked nutritious meals and snacks, the arts, music and math to ensure that we reach the whole child.

It is a big jump from being three to Pre-K.  Our Pre-K teachers understand that all children have different learning styles and start at different points.  Large group time, small group time and individual learning at classroom learning centers allow each child to grow and mature in the way they learn best.  This age group are experts at gaining life and social skills and traits such as generosity, friendship and empathy.  Combining all these things set your child up for a successful transition into Kindergarten and beyond!

School age children, (“Schoolers” is what we call them) are very social creatures.  That is right up our alley!  From Kindergarten thru age 12, our Schoolers enjoy the best of both worlds while they are with us after their regular school day.  We have a large, sun-filled classroom set up just for their needs with art supplies, games, books, tables for homework, and all things creative.   Our staff will lend encouragement and assistance as needed with homework assignments.  We also have a full indoor gymnasium with fully padded walls for safety, should the East Texas weather not be inviting us outside.

Speaking of outside; our cool, new outdoor playground equipment, a basketball court, shaded patios, and lots of open space for them to run and play in after a long day of class work supports our belief that we are here to strengthen the whole child…….they love being active outside!

As you most likely already know, elementary kiddos like to eat.  It is a long time from their lunch period at school to when they come to Creative Kids in the afternoon.  Our Schoolers enjoy a nutritious afternoon snack upon the children arriving from school each day.  Seeing the need, this is a new service we are providing this year.  There is no extra cost for this afternoon meal for parents.  We believe in supporting healthy bodies and healthy minds.

Our staff support a positive, inclusive and unbiased classroom culture – stemming from our belief that everyone belongs in our circle. Character lessons, encouraging students to engage with each other using empathy, optimism, problem-solving skills and creativity occur daily.   All these traits lead to a growth mindset and aide in educating the whole child.

Maintaining happy hearts and minds through ongoing character development lessons, wholesome meals and snacks, creative arts and plenty of fun with friends make our school age program one your child will grow and blossom in year after year.  We love our Schoolers!

Summer…….it’s a wonderful thing!  The Schoolers at Creative Kids Learning Center have a summer full of adventure and fun.  Our summer months are filled each day with travels and interesting things to do and see around our area of East Texas.  From swimming (at Brookhaven Fitness pool with certified life guards on duty), visiting museums, the TJC planetarium, movies at Times Square Cinema, the Whitehouse Splash Park, Discovery Science Place, roller skating, area parks, Texas Freshwater Fishery, Tyler Library days, Tyler Kung Fu Fitness, Braums stops, lunch at McDonald’s and other local eateries in addition to many other activities, we keep them very busy.  All this, in addition to their activities here at the Center!  It is a busy, busy summer at Creative Kids for our Schoolers, but our students are happy and engaged….with a little bit of education sneaked in (shhhhhh…..don’t tell them)!  All activities and meals are included in the summer tuition for each week.   Come and join us…..you will not be disappointed!
